One man's reflection on the power of Tai Chi.
'When you hit the sweet spot, it's like a 1000 padlocks being taken off your body.'
The traditional Chinese martial art of Tai Chi is often described as 'meditation in motion'. It combines slow, flowing movements, deep breathing, and focused attention to conjure a deep relaxation and mindfulness.
You are taught to unlock and encourage proper flow of the 'Qi' - an energy force thought to flow through the body - and to maintain a balance of the 'yin' and 'yang' - opposing elements thought to make up the universe that need to be kept in harmony.
'It's a state of mind and it's a simple alignment of the body that changes you completely, that is the power of what we do.'
